The founder and the Managing Director of Ergene Management Consulting, Murat Ergene was graduated from Tarsus American College and Politics and International Relations Department of the Bosphorus University.
He started his professional career as an Management Trainee in the Turkey office of Unilever, one of the world’s biggest fast moving consumer goods company and worked in all sales categories in various positions, finally the National Key Accounts Manager for 7 years. Ergene then altered the course of his career towards Human Resources and took the position of Head of Recruitment responsible for all group companies.
He furthered his successes in his human resources career by setting up the “Employer Brand Strategy” and “Online Recruitment” systems in Unilever Turkey in 1999. The “e-recruitment” project he developed was recognised with an award by Unilever Global for its contribution to the company’s “Path to Growth” strategy. The Company’s ongoing “Unilever Idea Trophy” contest and “Bizz Trip”, visits to company premises, were introduced for the first time during his term of office.
In 2001, he was appointed as the Global Human Resources Projects Manager in London Unilever Headquarters to manage a number of projects. On his return to Turkey in 2004 his acquaintance with Hüsnü Özyeğin led him to assume the position of Assistant General Manager in charge of Human Resources in Gima, one of the biggest chain of retail markets. After a year, he continued to serve in the same position as a member of the Steering Committee set up for Gima’s merger with Carrefour.
Ergene was named among “Turkey’s Best 10 HR Directors” in 2005 by the business magazine Para.
The next step in Ergene’s HR career was his appointment to HR Manager of Garanti Bank in 2006. The HR Transformation Project he led in this position resulted in the increase of the bank’s employees from 11,000 to 17,000 during his term of office. He played a pivotal role in the implementation of the “Banking Academy” project developed jointly by the Bank’s partner General Electric to prepare young professional as future banking managers. The “Talent Management Project” implemented under his leadership was rewarded as “The Best Differentiated HR Practice of the Year” by PERYÖN (Human Management Association of Turkey) in 2008. The “Talent Camp – Young Talents” programme still in use in Garanti Bank was first launched during his term of office. In 2009 he decided to start his own business.
Murat Ergene is a member of Bosphorus University Alumni Association (BÜMED), Health Education Foundation (SEV) and Human Management Association of Turkey (PERYÖN).
